Acceptable use policy

Version 1 · Effective May 2026. This is our first published AUP and may evolve as the product and legal landscape change.

What this policy is

StreamStash is a personal archiving tool. It downloads and organises public creator content from supported platforms, plus any content you can already access with your own credentials. This policy explains what StreamStash is built for, what it isn't built for, and what we expect from people who use it.

If your use of StreamStash is legitimate, this policy will not surprise you. We're publishing it so reviewers, partners, and customers know where we stand.

What StreamStash is built for

  • Personal archiving. Save creators you follow before content gets deleted, accounts get banned, or platforms change their feature set.
  • Data sovereignty. Keep your collected content on your own machine. No cloud upload, no third-party processing, no platform lock-in.
  • Curation. Build a searchable, organised library of content that matters to you, in one place instead of scattered across eight platforms.
  • Research and journalism. Capture public posts before they vanish for accountability, archival, or analytical purposes.
  • Backup of your own content. If you create content yourself, archive your own work for safekeeping.

What StreamStash is not built for

  • Bulk redistribution. StreamStash is for personal use. Re-uploading downloaded content to other platforms, especially with the original creator's branding stripped, violates our intent.
  • Harassment, stalking, or doxxing. Using StreamStash to systematically track, monitor, or compile profiles on individuals against their wishes is prohibited.
  • Circumventing platform protections you don't have access to. StreamStash respects the boundaries of the credentials you provide. It is not a tool for breaking into private content you aren't already authorised to view.
  • Reselling content as your own. Downloaded material remains the intellectual property of the original creator. StreamStash gives you a copy. It does not transfer rights.
  • Content involving minors, non-consensual material, or otherwise illegal media. Don't use StreamStash to download, organise, or distribute material that is illegal where you live or where the source platform operates.

Your responsibilities as a user

When you use StreamStash, you agree to:

  1. Comply with the terms of service of the platforms you archive from. StreamStash provides the technical tool. The relationship between you and each platform is yours to manage.
  2. Comply with applicable law in your jurisdiction. This includes copyright law, data protection law, and laws governing digital privacy.
  3. Treat content you archive with the same respect for the creator that you would as a viewer on the original platform.
  4. Not use StreamStash for any of the prohibited uses listed above.

Enforcement

StreamStash is a personal-use desktop application. We do not monitor what you download. Enforcement of platform terms of service and applicable law is your responsibility, not ours.

If we receive credible reports that an individual is using StreamStash to harass others, distribute illegal material, or systematically violate the rights of others, we reserve the right to revoke their licence and refuse future service.

Questions

If you have questions about whether a specific use case is appropriate, contact us at support@streamstash.live. We'd rather answer the question up front than have a bad outcome.

Changes to this policy

This is version 1. The policy may be updated as the product or legal landscape evolves. Material changes will be announced through our usual channels.
