Getting Started

Add your first creator, set up feeds, and start archiving content across platforms.
The Dashboard
When you first open StreamStash, you'll land on the Dashboard. This is your command centre — it shows active downloads, recording status, storage breakdown, and a "What's New" feed of your latest archived content.
Adding Your First Creator
The fastest way to start is via the Add User form on the Dashboard.
- Select a platform — click the platform tab for the source you want to archive, such as TikTok, YouTube, Twitch, Kick, Instagram, Threads, Twitter/X, or Telegram.
- Enter the username — type the creator's username without the
@ symbol.
- Choose what to do:
- Feed — download their entire posted video archive and check for new content on a schedule
- Monitor — watch for when they go live and auto-record (TikTok only)
- Record — start recording their live stream right now (TikTok only)
- Click Lookup — StreamStash verifies the account exists, then starts the download or monitor.
Tip: You can check multiple options at once. For TikTok, enabling both "Feed" and "Monitor" is the most common setup — you'll get their post archive plus live recordings.
Adding Instagram or Twitter/X creators? We've tested rate limits thoroughly across all platforms, but for Instagram and Twitter/X we still recommend using dedicated accounts as a safety net — in our testing, they've been the strictest when it comes to automated activity. See the
Configuration guide for details.
Feed Downloads
Feeds are the core of StreamStash. A feed tracks a creator and periodically checks for new content.
- Navigate to the Feeds page in the sidebar to see all your tracked creators
- Each feed shows its status (downloading, idle, paused), video count, and last check time
- The default check interval is 1 hour — you can change this per feed
- New content is downloaded automatically in the background
Feed Settings
Click on any feed to configure:
- Update interval — how often to check for new content (30 min to 24 hours)
- Source quality — download in original source quality (Power tier) instead of the default re-encoded version
- Download photos — include slideshow/photo posts (optional)
